Give Your Deceased Loved One New Life, as a Tree

Up until now, your choices for what happened to your physical remains after death were limited to two choices: buried in the ground or cremated. If you choose traditional burial in the ground, this involves the process of embalming you by filling your body with toxic chemicals, then they put you in a sealed coffin, and finally pour a concrete vault to place your coffin in which is also sealed. This is a highly expensive option, and not very friendly to the earth.
The second option, to be cremated is a simple matter, that is less expensive and much more earth friendly. Your ashes can be kept by your family or spread out in a place of your choice, returning you to the earth. This option has two drawbacks: some people people find it creepy to have their love one's ashes in their home, sitting on a shelf, and if the ashes are spread, there really is no place to visit to commune with your loved one.
What if their were another option? Now there is a third choice, the biodegradable urn. Basically it is a two compartment urn that holds the ashes in the bottom and a separate compartment on top that holds a tree seed and items to help it grow.

When it is first planted, the tree seed germinates and begins to grow. Over time, the urn will begin to degrade and the entire thing eventually turns into soil and fertilizer for the tree. Year after year the tree grows, benefiting the environment, beautifying the earth and giving the family a living thing to represent their loved one. A much more lovely thing than a cold marble gravestone.

I have to say that I absolutely love this idea. I have always hated the idea of being embalmed and buried. I also was never comfortable with the thought of being scattered after cremation, or being a knick knack on on someone's shelf. This option gives me the opportunity to show my love for the earth and to help nuture it. It also kind of gives me the feeling that in some small way I will go on contributing, not only to the planet but to the scenery and the lives of my loved ones left behind.
I love the idea of a whole plot of land with families of trees growing together. How much more beautiful and useful would that be, than a creepy graveyard.
