I was exploring in You Tube this morning. It happens, you go to look up a certain video, and something else catches your eye and then something else and so on. It's easy to lose an hour, at least. Anyway, I saw something I thought was really neat: Folded Book Art. Is this cool or what? I love it! It would take a lot of patience and ingenuity to make something like this. Not all folded book art is words, there are also animals, shapes and free form abstracts. They are made by folding the pages of a book one at a time to make a shape. The piece of art above is by Luciana Frigerio, who has a shop selling these on Etsy. If you want to check it out: A World of Paperworks I have got to try this and I have the perfect candidate. There are some hardcover books that I found in my garage that have provided some fodder for the local mice to build a nest. Since they are basically toast for reading, I am going to give book folding a shot. I mean, the worst that could happen is that I make some fancy kindling for the fireplace, right ? I will take a picture of the result, regardless of the outcome, and share it with you. If any of you want to take the plunge, please send me a picture of the result! Laters, Jade

I find myself attracted to book art, though as a retired librarian it surprises me. You would think I'd want to preserve books from being cut up or turned into art objects.
