I have always loved the combination of cinnamon and raisins, so when I saw this recipe in a magazine when I was in college, I copied it down and put it in my recipe box. Unfortunately, my recipe box got lost along the way. It ended up in a box of stuff that you keep, but has no use, so it rarely gets opened. Recently I have been trying to adopt more of a minimalist lifestyle, so I have been going through some old boxes and throwing things away and guess what I found? Yep, my old recipe box and in it, the recipe for cinnamon raisin biscuits. |
While going through my old recipe box, I had to laugh at some of the recipes I saved back then......chocolate nut bread? Mexican egg rolls? But when I saw that cinnamon raisin biscuit recipe, I had to try it, so I made some last weekend. They were really delicious! The biscuits were light and flaky with a delicate flavor of cinnamon and juicy raisins. They were perfect for me! I never cared for cinnamon rolls because they have way too much super sweet icing, but these biscuits were delicious and not overly sweet.
Ingredients:
|
Preheat oven to 450 degrees
Combine all dry ingredients
Cut in butter
Add milk and raisins, stirring until dough is kind of stiff
Place on a lightly floured board or counter
Roll out to 1/2 inch thick and cut into desired shapes
Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes until top is golden
With a whisk, mix the ingredients in a bowl
Whisk hard until smooth
Apply to the top of your biscuits with a brush
I hope that you enjoy these biscuits as much as I do. They are so yummy with hot tea and a little honey butter. They are also a great addition to breakfast plate. Just make sure that you store them in an air tight container so they don't get stale.
Have a great rest of the week
Jade :)
