It is very easy to make a gift bag out of a t shirt. Why would you want to, you ask? Well, I can think of a few great reasons.
T Shirt gift bags can be made from any kind of t shirt from infants (very small bags) to Adult. (large or multiple bags) You can leave your bag plain or decorate it with buttons, sequins, fringe or other trim. You can also draw on it with magic marker or dye it a solid color. - It's green! Gift bags are reusable, and create no waste.
- It's recycling! A great use for old t shirts when it is time to retire them.
- It's cheap! And you don't have to go out to buy it.
- It's fun! You can decorate it however you want.

I usually do the dying or whatever artistry I am planning to a shirt, before making the bag, I find it is easier.
How to:
To make your t shirt gift bag, lay your t shirt on a flat surface, like a table. Cut a square like the picture above and sew around the edges, leaving the hemmed side open. If you want a drawstring, then run a ribbon or rope through the hem, leaving one side open about an inch. Or you can sew it up all the way around and then after putting your gift in the bag, you simply gather up the top and tie it with a ribbon and make a pretty bow.

Sometimes I prefer to simply tie a ribbon around the top of the bag like the picture to the left, instead of making a drawstring. I like the fan at the top when you tie them this way, or you could even sew lace on the edge for an even more pretty top fan. |
You can shock and amaze your friends and family with your ingenuity, and show them you are a good citizen of the earth. Unfortunately, when you give a gift in a gift bag, it becomes the property of the person you give the gift to. You can't ask for it back. But look on the bright side, maybe they will make a gift bag for your next gift!
