The base recipe for my peanut butter dips is:
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Now in addition to these ingredients, I felt it needed a sweet element. I tried maple syrup and it was really delicious, but it did change the flavor of the dip, so there was a different element other than peanut butter in the taste. The next sweetener I tried was honey. I started out with a tablespoon and added a bit more, to my taste. It did not flavor the dip as strongly as the maple syrup, so this is what I prefer, you can decide for yourself.
You can add other items to this dip, it is pretty versatile. Try adding some mini chocolate chips, or finely chopped peanuts. As for what to offer to be dipped into this yumminess, I usually offer a variety of items for dipping:
- pretzel sticks
- ginger snaps
- dehydrated banana or apple chips
- graham crackers (I use Teddy Grahams)
- pita chips
- crackers (any kind)
Unfortunately, since the food sits out all evening, I don't think that fresh apples or bananas would work. They would turn brown and mushy pretty quick, that is why I decided to go with dehydrated.
I would love some more ideas for dippers, if you have any please leave me a comment.
