This post is a tribute to my Mom, by featuring her most loved recipe, her butter cream frosting. When you eat this frosting, you will hear angels sing, trust me.
1 egg white
1 cup white granulated sugar
1 pinch of salt
1/2 cup of Crisco
1 stick of real butter
1 and 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla
1/2 cup of lukewarm milk (whole or 2%)
Directions
With a mixer on medium, beat the egg white until foamy
Slowly add sugar and a pinch of salt
Slowly add Crisco, butter and vanilla
When well mixed, very slowly add the lukewarm milk
Beat until smooth and all the sugar is melted and frosting is no longer grainy
It is very VERY important that you beat this frosting until completely smooth, if you don't it is gritty and gross
If you still have your Mom, please appreciate her. Spend time with her, talk to her, hug her. Let her know you love her. After she is gone, it will be the biggest comfort that you have.
Happy Birthday, Mom. I love you.
