This is a little box I make whenever I can in lieu of wrapping a gift. It's less waste, and cuter too! Below I have an tutorial on how to make this little box. I don't provide a pattern because the size of the box will depend on the item you are wrapping; it has to fit in the middle. You can see in the shape below that I traced out after making a paper pattern from the object I am going to wrap.

The shape is easy to draw around the item, and it does not have to be perfectly even, just get the two slightly squared and two round. |

When you have your pattern, trace it out on the wrong side of your denim. I recycled the leg of an old pair of jeans. Cut out the piece with a pair of scissors. Don't be concerned if you get a bit of fray, that is the charm of denim fabric. |

Clip small holes with a pair of scissors, and dot around the hole (on the wrong side) with white craft glue. Let it dry before continuing. This is to stop the hole from raveling.

Take the ribbon as shown and tie the two flat edged sides together. (after putting your item inside) Then thread the ribbon through the other hole and pull gently. |

Make sure the flaps lay on top of each other to the holes. and tie a pretty bow.

This little box is such a cute idea for small gifts, and it's green, because it can be reused again and again. The more used and frayed it gets, the cuter is it! You can also make this box with felt, or thicker wool. I even made one, once, out of faux sheep skin! For that one I had to dot the whole edge with glue, so it would not ravel, but it was really adorable.
Another adaptation I have used when making this box was to not use a ribbon or cut holes in it at all, but to use small pieces of velcro, glued in, to close the flaps, and create your box. This is better to use when you are using really heavy duty fabric, that can take the tugging to open velcro. This type of box is great for small kids, they love to use them to wrap gifts because it is so easy!
