BIG MISTAKE !!!
When I tried to remove them from the tray they were stuck tight. I mean, I could turn the tray upside down and not a banana moved. To get them off, I had to pry them off with a knife. That was fun!
- Spray the trays with cooking spray before putting the bananas on them.
- Remove the bananas as soon as you turn off the dehydrator
The consistency of the chips were also not what I expected. I expected them to be hard. like the banana chips you buy in the store. They aren't, they are more like fruit leather.(think of fruit roll ups) Still flexible and chewy when you eat them. The good news is that the flavor is excellent! They taste just like bananas, no funny taste, and no after taste.
The six bananas made two dehydrator trays of chips. After dehydrating, this is what I ended up with -------------------> The bowl is 4" x 4" x 4" and it is a little over half full. Dehydrated food is always very small, compared to regular food because water is so much of what food is. Even though I know this, it is still hard not to be a bit disappointed. Silly, I know. Anyway, I have learned a lot. Hope you did too, Jade :) |
