Today's e mail had the following for my delivery on Monday:
| |
- A bunch of green onions for the yellow onion (I already have a bag of yellow onions)
- A cucumber for the avacado (Hubby and I hate avocados)
The rest of the stuff sounds yummy, I really love kiwi, but I never buy them so I am looking forward to having a couple.
I used last week's mushrooms, garlic, broccoli, and potatoes (along with my own onion, olive oil and Parmesan cheese) to make a vegetable medley for dinner one night. It was delicious! The broccoli and mushrooms were tender and flavorful. The potatoes seemed to be very dense, and required a bit longer cooking, but they were also wonderful!
We used the bananas in our breakfast cereal, and they were also very good, firm and tasty
The lettuce, mushrooms and cucumbers were used to make a dinner salad. They were really good, especially the lettuce which was crisp, and not at all bitter.
The only thing that I really did not care for were the tangelos. I had never had any before, so I didn't have anything to compare them to, but I thought they were overly tart and highly acidic tasting. I will not be selecting them again.
Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of the food. It's fresh, attractive and tastes very good. The cost, when compared to the organics at big stores is the same or maybe a small bit higher. A small price to pay to be able to choose what you want and have it delivered to your door, in bitter cold and snowy weather. When spring hits, things will change. When I am able to plant and harvest my own veggies, I will either switch to an all fruit box, or maybe suspend delivery altogether, until fall.
I will show you the box of food, when it gets here on Monday.
