How to Make a Rag Rug - Three Styles

Have you ever wanted to learn to make a rag rug?  I have!  There are many different kinds:

•   braided
•   woven
•   crocheted
•   sewed
•   no sew

To be totally honest, I am not sure which one I like best.  Yesterday I ran across a couple of really good tutorials; one on braided, sewed rugs and one on woven, no sew rugs.  I am leaning toward the woven, no sew, although I can sew, I like the finished look of the woven one.    What do you think?

These rugs were made out of old sheets, but you could make them out of many different things:

• old jeans
• men's shirts
• t shirts

Really any fabric that you have a lot of would do.  Just make sure it is of the same type and weight, you don't want to weave wool coat material with t shirt material.

Rag Towel Bathroom Rug

I also found a YouTube Video for a really novel rag towel rug for the bathroom.  It is made of old towels.  Though I am not sure how you would get it to stop shedding towel strings in the beginning.

I thought this was really cute, I think it really be pretty with two or three corresponding colors.  A toilet rug could also be made with fair ease, simple measure the one you have now and cut the grid base into the same shape and start tying!  Such a cute way to recycle old bath or beach towels!
