- Respect for an a desire to use the time-honored home skills of our grandparents (this does not preclude using modern tech too)
- Living in a sustainable and earth friendly manner
- Practicing Self-sufficiency/self-reliance as a normal part of your lifestyle
- Being mindful of what all you consume as well as the level of waste you produce
- Using organic practices wherever possible
- Learning to do things yourself instead of hiring others
- Being frugal and having respect for money
- Cooking and making things from scratch
- A strong emphasis on utilizing local community resources
- Growing your own food, herbs, and medicinals
- Sharing and caring for others in the community.
