I love deco mesh crafts!
I wanted to see more of them and get more ideas on how to make them and what to put in them. So I went to YouTube and did a lot more research and I found some really pretty ones.
I also found a few really horrible ones, and I will share one of them with you too, and my opinion on how it went wrong, and what could have saved it.
Theses wreaths are so easy to make it's unbelievable. I am making all new wreaths for my house for fall and Halloween. Maybe Christmas too! I hope you enjoy these how to videos as much as I did.
Take a look at this video, and see if you can figure out the mistakes she makes.
The wreath in this video starts out with such promise. The metallic deco mesh is really gorgeous. Unfortunately, it starts to go awry right after she is done securing the mesh. The geo tubing is awful to start with, and then she uses way too much of it. Mistake number two was when she took the easy way out and just stuffed the whole leaf garland in the wreath. Way too many leaves, it just takes over the wreath. Not to mention the dull silk leaves don't go with the metallic mesh. Then to add insult to injury, she puts flower heads (but none of the pretty green leaves) on top of the ill-matched monstrosity and glues them flat on, not even bothering to tuck them in. This is really just a hot (glue) mess.
What she should have done...
After the mesh, she should have taken some glitter accessories like some of these:

Your wreaths will be pretty if you remember a few basic ideas
- Less is more - don't crowd too much stuff on your wreath, it will end up looking like a hodge podge mess.
- Tuck your items into the natural spaces in a wreath - never just glue things on the outside.
- Keep in the theme - if you are going natural, stay away from metallic and glitter, and vice versa
- Bows can go anywhere - top, bottom or sides, all are pretty
I hope that you have fun making your wreaths this holiday season, and don't forget, wreaths make a GREAT gift for anyone! Bring one to the hostess on Thanksgiving. Hang one on the door as you are going in to a holiday party, as a surprise for the hostess. Homemade gifts are always appreciated because they are from your own hands and heart.
