My seedling pole beans were growing tall, their little tendrils searching for something to latch onto. I had already staked them, using recycled wood barbecue skewers and pieces of drier sheets, but they were continuing to grow and sprout grasping shoots.
I didn't know what to do, I don't have any trellises small enough to put in my seedling pots. I searched the house over, looking for something that I could use to make trellis when my eyes fell on some cheap old wire hangers that I had put in my donation box to give to charity. I picked them up a set to work devising a way to make them into something that would fit and be steady in my fairly short seedling planters.
This is what I came up with, it is ridiculously simple and quick to make:

| Materials: 2 metal coat hangers 6 inches string or thin wire clear tape |  |
 | 1. Take the necks of your two hangers and tape them together securely with clear tape. You could also use string or wire. 2. Straighten the curved top |
| 3. Pull the hanger and bend it so it is in a diamond shape. 4. Tie the center top together with string or wire. Make sure it it loose enough so that the ribs can move, but not too loose. |  |

When you are ready to transplant these plants outside, you should plant them as a unit, with a larger climbing appliance placed over this smaller one. If you try to take them apart from each other and the coat hanger trellis to transplant the plants individually, the damage to the plants will probably kill them. Let the planter dry out until the dirt sides are pulling away from the planter wall, and then you will be able to remove the dirt and plants from the planter, together, and place them in the ground.
