I have been trying to find alternative to using sandwich bags in my husband's lunch every day. I have been buying sandwich bags for this purpose for years and I am tired of throwing my money away. Then last week I stumbled upon a website that had reusable sandwich bags. At first I thought it was a ridiculous idea, but when I looked at the design, I saw why it would work or even be better than the plastic kind. The reason is because it unfolds flat, so you can easily clean it. I was getting ready to order a couple when it dawned on me that I could make these so easy, and a lot simpler than how they had made theirs. Below is my tutorial for making your own, it really is pretty easy.
Make Your Own Reusable Sandwich Bag Tutorial
Materials:
- 1 flannel or fabric backed tablecloth
- Ruler
- Paper to make your pattern
- 2 inch piece of velcro
- Glue - waterproof is better like E6000
The first thing you need to do is to make your pattern according to the dimensions below:
- Cut
- Glue Velcro
- Use
Could they be easier? They also cost almost nothing to make, so when they get ragged, just toss it and make a new one. Cleaning is really simple too, just unfold flat and wipe down with plain water. You can also make other sizes and shapes to fit other types of sandwiches like subs/hotdogs, or extra large deli style sandwiches. Since you make them yourself, the types and uses are endless. I use the heck out of mine! One tip I can give you is to buy the higher quality tablecloths. Dollar store table cloths or even $5 ones at Walmart are very cheesy and don't last long at all. Invest in a heavier duty table cloth and your bags will last much longer.
Enjoy,
Jade :)
