The box was brand new and had the inventory list taped to the top. When I opened it up, the site that greeted me was what you see above. No item was wrapped other than the mushrooms. The food was attractive and in good shape, though I was a bit disappointed with the red potatoes. They could have been nicer and I had expected more than five. The broccoli was also a bit uneven in color, but looked healthy.
My first delivery arrived about 2:30 pm. It was delivered by a clean cut, very pleasant man who rang the bell, handed me the package and wished me a good day. He was driving a clean, black mini van, with no company markings on it.

I have been growing increasingly concerned about the vegetables and fruits in the grocery store. With all the horror stories about genetically modified produce having poisons built right into them to kill insects (what will they do to us?) Even the so called "organic" vegetables and fruits; how do we know that they really are? Or even more, who is to say what "organic" has been twisted to mean to the people that label foods. Maybe the farmers only used 50% of the poisons that most do and that earns the name "organic."
This post comes from my friend Heather's blog The Homesteading Hippy. When I read it, I was struck with how simple it made the process of cutting up a whole chicken, especially with the clear illustrations. It is definitely a saver. Thanks for sharing, Heather!

I really love fruit cobbler, do you know anyone that doesn't? My favorite is blueberry with vanilla ice cream. My husband is crazy for peach. We both love apple. I have also made some mixed fruit cobblers like:
Any kind of fruit makes a wonderful cobbler, that is why I love this recipe, you can make it with any fruit. |
