Today I want to share three quick tips with you. I use these all the time, and if you don't already, you will soon! I just love great kitchen tips, if you have any please leave them below in the comments!
Instead of using plastic wrap and throwing it away (as well as being annoyed trying to deal with it) use disposable shower caps. They may say disposable, but they can be reused, and they are so much easier to deal with than plastic wrap. Just slide them over your bowl and you are good! They also make a great cover when you bring food to outdoor parties because they show what is in the bowl, but can be left on to keep the flies off until time to serve and then just slipped back on afterwards. I use mine all the time to cover bowls of leftovers.
Make a paste of one tablespoon each of coarse salt and baking soda. Add just enough water to make a paste. Scrub your wooden cutting board with a toothbrush and your paste. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Pour hydrogen peroxide on the cutting board and rub with a towel till the surface has been covered. Let stand for 5 minutes. Rinse with water. Pour mineral oil on a towel and rub the board. Let the board sit in the sun for a few hours. If your board retains any odors from the peroxide or oil, you can cut a lemon in half and rub it over the surface of the board and let dry. Your cutting board will be clean and lemony fresh!
